Review:
The story of Phobos comes to the fore in the issue as the reader sees the character come into his own as one of the leads in the title. I always thought the juxtiposition of super-heroes with the non-powered Nick Fury as thier leader was a double edged sword. On the one hand its good to see the series proving the old Marvel Comics adage, "with great power comes great responsability" with Fury playing a surrogate Uncle Ben to the crew of super-youngsters. The downside is that for a long time Fury fan like myself, who prefer the more grounded and espionage-based stories, stories with Phobos and the gods tend to fall out of interest. Nonetheless, the story of Phobos is a good one and and the title manages to intergrate the status quo of the Marvel Universe well, with Ares and Phobos on opposing sides. A good issue, but a clear indication that Nick Fury and the gang are going to stand aside for a time to give the little god of war some spotlight.
