Marvel Super-Heroes Winter Special "Mind Storm" (1990)
Writer: Archie Goodwin
Penciler: Frank Springer

Spiderman witnesses an explosion at the Daily Bugle and finds himself in the crosshairs of the sniper known as Mindstorm, who shoots him with a hallucinogen. Nick Fury arrives too late to stop the hit but retrieve Mindstorm's rifle for analysis. Fury gets his team to create an antidote while Spiderman runs amuck in NYC, gripped by delusions that are driving him mad. Spiderman arrives back at the Daily Bugle, where Nick Fury arrives to administer the antidote.

  • Continuity Notes
  • Cover appearance
  • The plot is nearly identical to one Goodwin used in SHIELD (1) #7 except this time its Spiderman who is hallucinating.
  • The editor notes this story takes place prior to Nick Fury Vs SHIELD

Yet another dull double bill of Spiderman and Fury, this despite the pedigree of writer Archie Goodwin and Frank Springer on inking duties. The story is unimaginatively recycled from NF:AOS #7 and doesn't even offer the satisfaction of an in-joke (what, they thought we wouldn't notice?!) The art starts off adequate but soon degenerates with smaller and smaller panels that seem really rushed and lack great detail. Not worth reading.
