Review
Despite
being New Yorkers, Spiderman and Nick Fury often don't mix well. Sometimes
the results are great (see MTU 82-85) most often they're lackluster (see
MTU 139). This one falls in the latter category with recycled bits from
their last (superior) team-up. Another female hero is gunning for Fury,
another conspiracy, and Spidey proves yet again that S.H.I.E.L.D. training
standards were pretty shoddy after they beat HYDRA in the 60's. The ending
mocks (pun intended) the cover title's 'introducing' moniker and the
story's finale features such a stoic and emotionless Fury it leaves doubts
whether it was the real Fury at all. Artwise, nothing extraordinary.
As for the plot point that Mockingbird was gaining information that S.H.I.E.L.D.
was 'corrupt'; its so vague to easily tie in with the Vs S.H.I.E.L.D. miniseries,
but in point of fact this is a bit of a loose end.
