Nick Fury's Personal Equipment
In the field, Nick Fury often has nothing to depend on but his wits...and the clever gadgets provided by the S.H.I.E.L.D. Personal Effects Department. Aside from the obvious weapons, Fury has a number of secret devices embedded in his dress apparel which have saved his life on more then one occasion.

A normal fashion of the early 1960's, hats such as fedoras were essential for the well dressed man. Fury's fedora is equipped with a system of mirrors which enables it to act as a rearview periscope, allowing Fury to see if he is being followed by enemy agents.

Still an essential part of any man's wardrobe, even the tie was modified for extra uses. Fury's "modified" tie features a wireless mike for recording conversations. Also a special strand of off-color thread could be easily torn and used as an incendiary device, releasing an explosive chemical.

As director of SHIELD, Fury maintains a constant line of communication via the comm unit built into his Omega Speedmaster wristwatch. His watch originally contained a repulsing unit which emitted a negative magnetic force for reflecting bullets. Fury's current Omega chronograph comes equipped with a fiber-optic camera acting as a two-way communication device with the helicarrier.

By far, Nick Fury's most recognizable piece of apparel is his trademark eye patch. A constant shield over his useless right eye since the 1950's, the eye patch is more then just cosmetic; serving as a slingshot for miniature metal spiked spheres stored easily in Fury's field uniform.

Stylish, but deadly, Nick Fury's personal wear hide numerous special functions including among them:

Magnum-magnetic cuff links are capable of holding a regular sized man or woman. Both also doubles as electric absorbers, with the left acting as an atomic battery and the right as an ionic-degenerator.

The suit is bullet-proof and flame-resistant. The shirt buttons contain a synthetic compound that when swallowed provide five minutes of oxygen each. The cummerbund holds explosive charge and can be used as a bungee cord. The suit also features a built-in HAWK (High Altitude Wing Kite) for quick flights.

A devout cigar smoker, Fury's stogies also double as explosive charges.
