Fury: Peacemaker #1-6
(April 2006- Sept 2006)
Sgt. Nick Fury survives battle conditions in North Africa, teaming up with a British commando team and sent to assassinate Field Marshal Barkhorn. In time however Fury and his men learn that Barkhorn is part of a plot to assassinate Hitler through their mission objective into question.

  • Darrick Robertson is quoted as saying "It feels like it's a story that stands alone to bridge him from that Fury [Fury Peacemaker] to our version of Fury than it does to represent what he was in the '60s."

MAX: Fury #1-6 (Sept 2001- Feb. 2002)
An older and more embittered version of Nick Fury finds himself a relic in his own agency while reluctantly caring for the son of a fallen comrade whom he hates. A former Hydra agent stirs up trouble on a Caribbean island and Fury takes it upon himself to take him down in a bloody gory fight to the death.

MAX: Punisher #13-18 "Mother Russia" (Jan-May 2005)
In an attempt to reclaim SHIELD for himself, Fury seeks out Frank Castle for a "suicide" mission into Russia to retrieve a young girl who has a virus and antidote in her system. Fury deals with overzealous generals at home who threaten to undo the entire situation, while Castle tries to battle his way out of Russia and save the girl.

In this MAX universe, Nick Fury has SHIELD reverse-engineer the War Machine armour and offers Jim Rhodes a spot on SHIELD to lead an elite team of War Machine troops. SHIELD agent Sheve Josephs from the original War Machine title and Dum Dum feature in these two series This Nick Fury has no bearing or relationship to the other Max Nick Fury.
